Centaur Tribute to Boris

Description

Before anyone jumps all over me for copying someone elses work in this drawing, I will readily admit in doing so. Back in high school I was a huge fan of Boris Vallejo and was trying to emulate his style. I tried to copy some of his work, like in this drawing of a Centaur he did, in an attempt to, I suppose, channel his artistic techniques.

The stain down the middle is a bit of a sad story. My art teacher in high school put it in a matte frame which is essentially a lightweight cardboard died black with India ink. I had it hanging on the wall in my apartment back in the 90's underneath my window. During the summer months I keep my window open because it gets freakin HOT in Chico and my room becomes an oven. Well, one day while I was away at work we got a freak rain storm. You guessed it, water dripped down, making the Indian Ink dye of the Matte frame run and ruined my drawing. Sigh. Oh well. At least it wasn't an original work.

Great artists copy.  (quoting Andy Warhol).  lol,  You have a knack for art and a traditional touch.  I wish I had a mentor like you, I could do this with time and practice.  I like to copy the old art of avengers and early 80's justice league comics with superman.  It's great for the purposes of studying the effectiveness of anatomy and master work in ways that you can't get trying to do an original piece from scratch.  :D  This is inspirational, sir.  Keep it up.
